On September 14th, Jo Woods & Sarah Winter, Open Floor teachers from Melbourne, Australia, held a special event at the IFTI Community Hub dedicated to raising funds and awareness about the climate crisis with their ‘Dance in the Hills’ extended community.

What is the purpose of Open Floor Movement Practice at times of such environmental urgency?

As a PhD student in microbiology, Marta knows something about biodiversity. “We are losing diversity in our inner world,” she says, “just like we are losing diversity in the rain forest.”
Over the past 4 years, Open Floor International has evolved from a dream nurtured by a handful of passionate innovators to a reality firmly rooted in community. In this time, we have trained over 200 new teachers from 27 countries and introduced Open Floor movement practice to thousands of dancers around the globe. And so….we move on to the next phase of our evolution as an organisation making its mark in the field of embodiment. It is a time for renewal.
