Basic Sanity

Emotional Intelligence on the Dance Floor

Taught by: Andrea Juhan

May 2-5, 2019

Thursday 6-9:30pm | Friday & Saturday 11am-6pm | Sunday 11am-5pm

Do you have times of wondering where the world’s sanity has run off too? Do you worry about your own ability to cope with the massive amounts of feelings, decisions and changes we all notice and process each day?

Feelings happen in our bodies. They move, cycle and change continuously. Strengthening our ability to mindfully feel our emotions, while employing a minimum of defenses, is one of the primary outcomes in embodied movement. When we are in mindful movement, we are in tune or at least in embodied dialogue, with what we are feeling and what is moving in us and thru us.

The focus of this workshop is the art of singling out different aspects of our experience without losing sight of the whole. This is a crucial skill to learn in the quest for emotional intelligence and basic sanity.

To do this we explore 4 Differentiations that can help us in living a more embodied life:

~Sensation from story    ~Me from you    ~Past from present    ~Intent from impact

Each differentiation

  • plays a key role in our sanity, productivity, relatability and creativity
  • invokes a kaleidoscope of movement possibilities, old patterns, new possibilities and transcendent qualities.
  • is a dance of dual awareness that points us towards the non- dual nature of reality.

Understanding and being at ease with each differentiation expands our capacity to know what we are feeling, to manage our feelings so we are less overwhelmed, to communicate our feelings skillfully and best of all, how to keep ourselves basically sane, enjoying the unpredictable ever-changing dance of life.
