“Dance is like a soulmate: it’s fun, physical, emotionally intimate. It is by nature a spiritual practice.” Kathy Altman

Open Floor is an embodied exploration of all it is to be human. We weave a moving landscape in four dimensions to address the four human hungers.

We use the universal language of movement as a means of self-discovery and relationship building. The way we move on the dance floor is a mirror of how we move through life.

Our practice reflects these values:

Movement is a universal language that leads us to self-discovery and relationship building and in this way, both simple and profoundly powerful in healing ourselves and our world.

We invite authenticity whatever our physical or emotional state. We include what’s here now, move with it, and continue to embrace whatever else arises. On the Open Floor we move and include it all.

We work with increasing range, flexibility and choice on all levels of embodiment – whether physically in our bodies, with an emotion, a thought, or in our dialogue with the divine. We constantly explore the continuum between rigidity and mobility, stability and freedom.

We cultivate awareness of our habits – of thought, gesture, emotion. Open Floor is designed to support us in moving between habit and creative possibility, from fixed ideas to curiosity, and back again.
