My love for movement is rooted in the power of each person to discover something new and connect more deeply with their inner wisdom each time they enter the space for dance. It is a deeply personal practice and also a communal one.
In creating a conscious space for exploration, I am committed to my own growth as a teacher, continually exploring my blind spots, my own biases as well as the structural issues in society that can impact a communal dance floor, including: racism, sexism, ableism, classism and homophobia. In order to create truly welcoming and transformational movement spaces, these must be spaces of liberation for all people.
I have been leading people on the dance floor since 2011 and I became a certified Open Floor teacher in 2024. Other things that influence my teaching: the natural world, background in yoga, Nia technique and contact improv, being a mother/sister/daughter, work as an advocate, degrees in history, environmental studies & the law.
I live and teach in Philadelphia, but will be living in Spain in 2024-25. I am looking forward to connecting with the Open Floor community in Europe.
