It was transformative to participate and highly inclusive. I was twice favored: with the scholarship and the possibility of being at home. These are the miracles of life: the challenges that create openness to new ways of seeing and acting in the world!”

MEET THE OPEN HOUSE TEACHERS

Listed in alphabetical order

(em)BODY CONFIDENCE • AUDREY BOSS

We live in a world which is not inclusive, respectful or empowering towards everyBODY Diet & Wellness Culture and the systems of oppression they are rooted in, keep us stuck in a never ending cycle of shame as we compare ourselves to the "ideal" body… and always come up short. We learn to hunger for the elusive, perfect body and give ourselves a hard time for being too much and not enough. This dance between longing and shaming, privilege and discrimination, shapes our entire lives; the way we eat, the way we dress, the way we move, our self esteem and mental health, our relationships, our jobs, our leisure time. (em)BODY blends the Beyond Chocolate mindful approach to body image with Open Floor mindful movement and social justice education element. You are invited to come together in a community of practice to explore Body Confidence from the inside out, one step at a time.

DISSOLVING POETRY: SOUND AND MOTION • MAJERO BOUMAN

Play through a process of making, dissolving and resolving meaning in this fun Art in Motion session. We will create infinite poetries, make weird sounds, and risk emergence together in a co-creative sound and movement exploration. Let's make a mess of time and meaning, and delight in discovery.

SENSING SEXUALITY • SARAH DAVIES

Welcoming your embodied self, with what is sensual in you right now. A simply sensual way to arrive.

English: We will focus on the Cycle of movement. We know that there are no endings in this life, we navigate in circles and spirals. Each ending carries within itself the germ of a new beginning.

WHEN THE BODY MOVES, THE SOUL WILL TRAVEL: why dance alone is not enough • ZUZA ENGLER

If you are even reading this, you must know the power of movement to unlock the hidden places inside? the shortcut it creates to what years of talk therapy may have never touched? the elegant way it offers for moving with what needs attention and healing? This session is an experiential introduction to Therapy in Motion for any body interested in taking their dance deeper so it can change your life and the lives of others.

CYCLES OF CHANGE: equinox and the meditation (& movement!) cycle • FARSHID FARRAHI

Join us for the power and beauty of Open Floor’s Meditation Cycle as we mark the Fall Equinox. Through movement and stillness, facilitation and spaciousness, yin and yang, we will explore the changing of the seasons. As leaves turn color around us and yield to gravity, we will pay attention to what is becoming vibrant in our lives and what we are letting go of. Together, we harvest the alchemy that is possible when we turn toward our lives with Presence—and exquisite music.

BODY WISDOM: an Open Floor Experiment • HENRY FOWKES

Our bodies are an incredibly creative, wise and trustworthy resource, if we choose to listen to them. In this experimental session we will explore different ways of listening to, and expressing from body experience; from the 'bottom up'. Bring a pad and pen, as this session will include a little writing. Henry Fowkes is an internationally accredited teacher of Open Floor Movement Practice and a skilled group facilitator and educator. He is an energetic and down-to-earth teacher who engages groups with his relatable teachings, humour and legendary tunes. His approach is relationally focused working with what’s alive in the present moment, supporting people to uncover their own learnings and insights.

NEW LIGHT • ADAM FROST

Many of us have a desperate longing for some change. And some change, we most ardently avoid. In this session, we will use our dance to broaden and enrich our relationship to change and throw new light on it, the single most guaranteed constant throughout our lives. Please bring an object that holds meaning for you about change.

information to come • BENCE GÁSPÁR

THE HEART OF THE MATTER • DUNCAN GREEN

Exploring how movement and music can open us to our emotions, and how to forge meaningful connections with others without words, even in an online environment.

INCARNE TON ÂME - EMBODY YOUR SOUL • GAËLLE GRIFFON

English - Can you hear your soul’s call to the world? Open the doors of the body, cross its thresholds and release your dance to embody your soul. Let us gather together to let our songs of wisdom feed the circle of the dancers. Together let us rise for the Earth.

WHAKATAUTIKA - equinox dance ritual portal • KAIA HAWKINS

Marking moments in time with ritual and presence. Acknowledging the season past and coming to this moment of balance. Everywhere around the planet this weekend we have an opportunity to notice, to harvest and to dream. Equal day ◇ Equal night. Take some time in with me as we dance, write, release and pause in this portal of balance. Please bring pen, paper and elemental items to create an altar. Could be as simple as a candle and a glass of water. Mauri ora, mauri aroha.

SPIRIT DANCE • IMRAAN ISMAIL

Dancing in connection with spirit, expanding the dance to encompass something bigger than us.

SECURE EMBODIMENT (Therapy in Motion) • ANDREA JUHAN

In the language of Attachment Theory, if we would have had the “perfect” upbringing with our caretakers/parents, we might have developed a Secure Sense of Self. This means (in short): Our Parents would have been mostly available, present, predictable, sensitive, and emotionally attuned. As A Child we would have felt safe and protected, our emotions regulated and soothed, the majority of the time. As Adults, we would, in general, believe relationships are safe, and people are helpful. We would be comfortable with emotions, and intimacy and tolerate relational frustration well; we would have developed a stable/flexible brain.
For many of us, this was not the case, or even if mostly the case, the road to “secure attachment” is earned as we mature. In TIM we recognize that “Secure attachment” is something we need to feel and trust in our bodies, Secure Embodiment is a feeling of bodily stability and more. Developing secure and insecure attachments and secure and insecure embodiment are parallel and simultaneous lifelong developmental processes. Movement practice helps us to build the capacity and the tolerance for Secure Embodiment the true container for the state of secure emotional relational attachment. Come to this session for a taste of this work.

MOVING WITH BODY STORIES • MASHA KOZLOVSKAYA

English: When moving with life we collect experience creating stories. It is not only our mind that has capacity to keep record of our history – in addition to cognitive narrative there is also a somatic one – each body part is a creator; each body is a unique collection of stories and a story in progress. In Therapy-in-Motion we support our clients to get access to somatic narrative through movement, inspire self- awareness and curiosity. Join this class to move with your body stories and learn how your stories move you!

LA TERRE EN NOUS - THE EARTH WITHIN US • LINA KRISKOVA

English: A session to reconnect with the planet and with ourselves through conscious movement and rituals inspired by Joanna Macy's - The Work That Reconnects (WTR). Blending Open Floor movement practice and the WTR spiral, this session is for those who want to explore their experience of what is happening to our planet, to ignite the world's vital life force in us, find their purpose and support each other to align our lives to our deepest values.

LUCID FLOW ~ an introduction to Therapy-in-Motion group work • DEBORAH LEWIN

This session requires having your camera on and attending for the whole 90 minutes.
This LUCID FLOW taster session might appeal to you if are curious about: How a therapeutic movement space works online and enables in-depth work utilising Open Floor Curriculum. Developing your embodied emotional intelligence. Exploring working 1:1 within a group context. Offering your presence through witnessing someone working 1:1. The charged energetic field created through witnessing and being witnessed. Reflection time with others (in breakout rooms). You want to MOVE!

THE SUPPLE HEART • JENNY MACKE

Our physical hearts are designed to be supple and fluid, not rigid like the pump we have all been told it is. We will investigate this supple nature of the heart through working with the four dimensions of embodiment (physical, emotional, mind and soul) and the Open Floor continuum of fixed and fluid.

THE INVISIBLE DANCER - FROM FORM TO FORMLESSNESS • IDAN MEIR

20 years ago, as a theatre student, I read "the invisible Actor" by Yoshi Oida and Lorna Marshall. Oida and Marshall refer to the witness of the actor within, the witness of the creative art in action. When we dance, we are co-creating with the invisible dancer within us. We move through different layers of forms; the physical body, the emotional body and our bundle of thoughts towards the formlessness. We connect to the mysterious dancer inside us that wants to be fully alive and present. The invisible dancer comes to life from the depth of our silent awareness.

English: How can we count on our bodies and the tools we already have to feel at home? How to resort to the simplicity of movement, pause the stories and surrender to the somatic joy of moving? Movement is the language of our being, and inhabiting that space together is medicine for the soul.

PATHWAYS OF CONNECTION • TAMARA ROMANIUK

Through our biology, we are wired for connection. Depending on the state we are in, we long to connect to ourselves, to another person, to a group, or even to connect to something bigger than us. In this session we will come together to play, dance, and rebuild our paths of connection through the wisdom and intelligence of our bodies. In combination with Open Floor practice, we will look at the movement of yielding that is the foundation for all patterns and connections in relationships. We will look briefly at the basic developmental elements to deepen our relational bonding.

WORDS ON FIRE: The dual art of bodies and words • LORI SALTZMAN

Everything we've lived resides in some corner of our bodies. In this session we will use the dual arts of movement and writing to stir up what lives in our bones: our history, our dreams, our desires, our losses and messes, our loves. Whether you love to write or cringe at the thought, this session is for you.

INSPIRITED AGING • KERRY- ANN STANTON

InSpirited Aging is a practice of movement, writing, simple art making and conversation designed with older people in mind. The session begins with guided movement, followed by writing/art making/conversation. We finish with gentle movement and a listening meditation. Movement can be done sitting in a chair, moving around the room or exploring the space you are standing on. The art making and writing is intended to deepen our experience of our movement practice. And the conversation, well …language is a human connection. What we can articulate, we can integrate.

DREAM DOOR TO MY SOUL • SARENA WOLFAARD

Disturbances and flirts take us away from where we want to be, yet, following a disturbance or a flirt might just be a dream door into your body's wisdom, a new pathway, a fresh approach, a possible way forward in a tough situation or a creative impulse at the beginning of a project.
