There is one thing that, when cultivated and regularly practiced, leads to deep spiritual intention, to peace, to mindfulness and clear comprehension, to vision and knowledge, to a happy life here and now, and to the culmination of wisdom and awakening.  And what is that one thing?  It is mindfulness centered on the body.   -Buddha

All the great masters teach us to "look underfoot" for our freedom. In this retreat we take this search fully into our bodies, our hearts, and our lives. When we dance as a meditation, we build the muscle of awareness no matter what we’re doing or what appears to be in our way.  Like contemporary Buddhas, here we learn to use our moving body as the ultimate mobile mindfulness device (one that we never forget to take with us or lose under the car seat!).

Be ready to dance boldly, quietly, and everything in between.  Be ready to sit, walk, write, play, experiment together, rest.  Dancing and sitting again and again, shaking things up and letting them settle, we learn to meet our tight spots with less struggle, more equanimity. Looking right underfoot, we find our freedom. 

Afterwards, we may find that we can breathe a little better when we're scared, stay present during a tough relationship moment, turn waiting in a long line into a stillness ballet, and rest in a quiet inner current throughout the chaos of living.
