Dancing has always been a part of my life. Dancing was my refuge in a very turmoiled childhood and as a teenager it was the most juicy progressive but perfect safe container to explore friendships and sexuality. Dancing kept me here, connected, curious and alive, it healed me many times on all levels and helped me survive deep depths and brought me a life & soul purpose. In the past folk dance, jazz- and modern ballet, Latin & ballroom dance and Oriental belly dance learned me many dance techniques which are still available in my teachers body. Later I switched to dance forms more connected to consciousness and spirituality. Like in trainings of Shamanic work and dancing with nature, Movement expression in group work (higher professional education), 5Rhythms, Dancing for Birth and finally Open Floor.I am teaching over 20 years now to a variety of groups. I’m trained as a 5Rhythms teacher by Gabrielle Roth. But with Andrea Juhan as my main teacher then and now, I started to teach Open Floor as well since 2015. As her former apprentice I’m also trained to teach Libido Fundamentals since 2017. I’m a working member within Open Floor International and co-initiator of the Open Floor Calendar website. I am mainly teaching classes, workshops and ongoing groups in my home country the Netherlands, but slowly spreading my wings to teach more often abroad as well.Feeling blessed and privileged to teach conscious dance and feeling grateful to all the teachers who guided me and still inspiring me on this specific path, to share their wisdom mixed with my own.VISION“Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good and just and beautiful.” PlatoAfter so many years of dancing and teaching I’m still fascinated and touched that the moving body never lies and always leads us back home to our true selves and being. I love to create a non-judgemental open space where we can show up again and again and feeling welcomed to move with whatever is present, amongst others. To create a safe creative environment where we can investigate with compassion and curiosity. Where breath keeps us present in this moment and music touches every cell of our being.“In this very breath that we now take lies the secret that all great teachers try to tell us.” Peter MatthiessenIf we can move, breath and stay present with whatever occurs in the dance, we learn to do the same in our lives, embracing all the ups & downs.. I also believe if we widen our range of movement vocabulary, creativity and awareness we widen our freedom to explore, experiment, express, embrace, empower, enjoy and play. As well as our capacity to connect, choose, change, transform and heal. But for all I believe that this dance is a gateway to listen to the voice of our soul and to attune to the greater source of our existence. Both will reset and re-align our body, heart, mind and soul, creating an integer, empathic connection with others, the world, life itself.“Healing does not mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.” native American quote
